I wanted to take some time to say goodbye to a very special friend, who we left in Oklahoma before taking off for Texas and beyond. Right now, he needs a new rear tire. His A/C isn't working. His cruise control is disconnected. An auxillary jack is broken inside the faceplate of the radio, so you can use that cord and that cord only to play an iPod, and it only plays out of one stereo. The handle to open the front hood broke off years ago, so you have to use pliers if you want to get in and check the oil. His bumpers have hundreds of dings from parallel parking in Chicago. He doesn't like to accelerate because, let's face it, he's a 2000 Honda Civic with a womanly teal skin tone and he's tired. Despite these flaws, Man Car, the name I gave him when I first bought him, has faithfully and safely brought us to all our destinations this summer, and has been our friend through many dangers. While we're in Korea, he gets to enjoy a different line of work as a third car for Maria's parents. Let's hope he enjoys semi-retirement in a warmer climate. Well done, good and faithful servant. Thank you for your hard work, and we'll see you in a year.
