Welcome to the online archive of "The Future of Musems" symposium, presented by graduate students in the New Media Studies MA program at DePaul University.

This symposium, presented at the DePaul Art Museum on June 7th, 2012, represents the culmination of ten weeks of research by students in NMS 509, "Digital Museums and Archives." The course, taught by Monica Westin of the Writing, Rhetoric, & Discourse Department at DePaul, examined contemporary issues of the digital archive as a central and rapidly changing institution in museums in particular. The course combined three weeks of museum history, field visits to museums and galleries, and discussion theoretical and critical readings. For more information about the course readings, please see "Selected Bibliography." Students contributed their own individual research into an issue or case study of their choice, resulting in the symposium presentations and accompanying catalog essays and supplementary materials archived here.

Student projects are organized by panel under "Panel presentations and essays."
