Students will do the following to practice and prepare for the graded assignment(s):

Collect and analyze data to draw valid conclusions on lead exposure in local communities.

 

Summary statement of conclusion which includes a cogent application of an appropriate summary. 

 

Examples of conclusion statements that are appropriate with occupying data and evidence. 

 

Workshop several conclusions as a group based on data and evidence. 

Review several drafts of the conclusions and determine how they have progressed over time. 

 

Were the conclusions based on evidence and logical thought? 

 

Create a plan for disseminating study findings and appropriate strategies for controlling lead exposures based on data and target population.  

 

Create a concept map demonstrating the principles of control and what to consider during proper implementation. 

 

Hierarchy of public health controls. Steps to risk communication. 

Identify suggestions that were missed most often and develop themes on what was missed through deductive reasoning.

 

Roll play communicating results to the public and trouble shoot issues.

Introduction to Disease and Injury Prevention 

 

After viewing the TED Talk by Gary Slutkin and explained the Haddon Matrix, students are asked to develop controls for gun violence in Chicago and present their ideas to the class during discussion.
