Marhaba!

My name is Mohammed Aldawood and I am a soon-to-be graduate of the Master's in Arabic program at DePaul University pursuing a career in teaching Arabic as a foreign language.

In 2005, I came to the United States from my home country of Saudi Arabia to pursue my college education. I was one of the first recipients in my country to receive a full scholarship to study in the U.S. After receiving a degree in Accounting from the University of Oregon in 2012, I worked in the field of Accounting for several years before determining that what I was really passionate about was teaching Arabic.
While a student at the University of Oregon, I had the opportunity to work closely with the Arabic department and served as a grader, teaching assistant, and self-study instructor. These positions were fulfilling as I was able to share my language and culture with others, and I decided in 2014 that I would be most happy continuing to do so. In the Fall of 2014 I began the Master's in Arabic program at DePaul. This program has enabled me to get experience in best teaching practices (theory and pedagogy) and has provided me with the opportunity to work at as teaching assistant for a wide variety of Arabic courses including Arabic Short Stories, Arabic Business, Arabic Culture, and Arabic Media. As a soon-to-be graduate of the program, I believe that I now have the appropriate skills and background  to effectively instruct students in Arabic.
In addition to my work as a teaching assistant in Arabic, I also had the opportunity to work as an Instructor of Arabic at Lewis University in 2016. This college position has given me even more practical knowledge and experience as I move forward as an Arabic instructor.
