Hello! Welcome to my UCWbL ePortfolio.

My name is Melanie, and I am a graduate student in the MAE program at DePaul and a peer writing tutor and graduate assistant at the UCWbL.  I am also part of the eLearning and Website team and part of the Writers Guild writing group.  This ePortfolio is a glimpse into my journey at the UCWbL. Here you will find my thoughts, reflections, goals, projects, and evidence of my ongoing learning and professional development.

The first core belief of the UCWbL, "Anyone who writes anything is a writer," is the foundation of my philosophy and approach to tutoring. Through writing, each individual can express, communicate and develop his or her thoughts, feelings, and beliefs and engage in an active learning process.

I believe process is the purpose; my journey consists of my experiences, which I value more than any single destination. I hope that I meet you along the way, so we can collaborate together as fellow writers.

A little bit about me:

  • When I am not tutoring, writing, reading or learning, I enjoy research, theory and philosophy, analysis, nature, exploring, long walks, conversation, arts, crafts, design, theater performances, coffee, tea, and cats.
  • I'm an INFJ (you can read more about this here).
  • I received my BA in psychology with a minor in fine arts from DePaul in 2009.
  • In addition to being an academic writer, I am a lifelong creative writer/poet.

Thanks for stopping by!

Enjoy :)
