I have come to believe that the teaching of art is the most important aspect of a child’s learning experience. Learning all aspects of art opens minds and truly allows a person to be free from all negative aspects of society. Creating art is the most beneficial way a person can reflect thoughts and compose purpose in life. Without a creative outlet, a person will be trapped in the logistics and mechanics of her daily life. I want to advocate for the schools of the United States to commit to a dedication of art education and a prolonged teaching of creative expression.

Art has been in the history of human kind forever. It has been used as a form of language expression, in functional ways, such as building, in recreational use, and in a effort to help a person reflect. In artistic expression, a person lets go of any inhibitions she may feel, and simply lets her emotions spill out onto the canvas or paper. Creating art is truly the only way to free oneself from the stresses and evils of modern day society. When a person is deeply engaged in painting, sculpting, or performing, she isn’t thinking about her overdue payments or her upcoming meeting, but rather what she feels and is doing right in the moment. I believe that creating art develops a person’s sense of self and helps her become more confident in her decisions. Learning of the culture and history of art is also a way people can free themselves of the burdens of everyday life.

I fiercely wonder why schools across the nation are cutting art and theater programs. The teaching and learning of historical art is one of the most important parts of a child’s education experience, in that it encompasses so much meaning. By learning art, a student is educated about history, solving conflict, mathematics, literature, and of course, artistic expression. So many important events throughout history can be taught through artistic education. Instead of cutting art courses, school administrations should bring art studies into the everyday class. There can be so much learning of history through evaluating and interpreting art culture. For example, when learning Roman history and culture, teachers should have students evaluate the Roman ruins and the design of early Roman architecture. Another example, so much can be learned of World War II, by looking and analyzing propaganda posters from the time. It is absolutely critical to rejuvenate the art programs in our schools, to show students how important it is to have a cultured, intellectual, and creative mind.

Help with this paragraph….is it needed?((((Of course, considering the current economic  It is understood that not all schools can afford to teach art, and with budget cuts on the rise, it may seem logical to cut art programs.  Many curriculums have been cutting art programs because they have to cut something, and believe that math and science are too valuable to cut. I agree that the scientific studies are crucial to a child’s learning, but the history and process of creating art is just as pertinent to a person’s education. Creating art is a way for a person to dive deep into herself, and find out who she really is, and what her purpose in life is. )))

In my own experience, my high school had an excellent art’s program, lead by fantastic teachers and artists. As a sophomore, I got the opportunity to travel to New York City with my class and teachers. We went to see Billy Eliot, the Broadway show, and we thoroughly investigated the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I stood in front of the most beautiful paintings, by artists such as Picasso and Monet, which energized my emotions and thoughts about what art can do for a person. I fell in love with art and everything about it, which is a delightfully consuming experience. It was such an enlightening experience for me, and it would be a powerfully educational experience for any student.

In many cases, people tend to rely on technology and science to answer problems. I feel that people should turn to artistic reflection and reasoning to answer these questions. Art should be available and taught for all people, in order for society to fully free themselves of the negative things of everyday living. I feel that people who are comfortable with creativity and self-expression are much more happy and successful than those who have not yet “freed” themselves of the burdens of everyday life without art. As a member of the future leaders of the United States, I advocate for the importance of art in our culture and the crucial need to continue to teach our youth in artistic history and expression.
