I teach undergraduate courses in writing, rhetoric, and applied linguistics, and graduate courses in applied linguistics/TESOL. I have also designed courses for the Liberal Studies and Honors programs. Additionally, I coordinate WRD's Graduate Certificate in TESOL. In 2016 I  received an Excellence in Teaching award, DePaul's top distinction for teaching.

My research takes up the following interrelated topics that draw on my background in both rhetorical studies and applied linguistics/TESOL: 1) multilingual college writers, with particular focus on identity; 2) international students in U.S. higher education; 3) rhetorics of immigration; 4) rhetorical dimensions of popular music.

The pages here have more detailed information about all of these topics.  Special thanks to all of my First-Year Writing students at DePaul, whose digital portfolios have inspired me.
