About me...

My mother once said to me, "Alexandra," The name 'Alex' never seemed to sit too well on her tongue. "I hope you never develop the same 'food addiction' that I have." Well, Mom. I'm sorry to inform you, but your love of food has most certainly been passed down to your eldest daughter. That's right. The Bischoff food-loving gene has nestled its way into my genetic makeup and has influenced every aspect of my personal food culture.

Along with our mutual affinity towards food, my mother and I share yet another dangerous trait--our sweet tooth. It may have been due to the few extra cookies or chocolates that she'd manage to sneak into my lunch bag on my way to school, but nevertheless, it's there. And it's powerful.

Like mother, like daughter...

My mother practically scared pedestrians on the street when she squealed with excitement after noticing the cupcake truck parked outside of my apartment the day she came to visit. I had recently transferred to DePaul University a week prior and this sugary convenience, at the perfect timing, was the icing on the cake (hah.) in my mother's eyes. She claimed it was fate. I say it was irony.

Hello, my name is Cupcake...

Cupcake trucks and store-bought cookies aren't the only ways I satisfy my sugary urges. I was given the nickname "cupcake" by my best friend's father after I revealed to him my secret passion--baking. Cupcakes, cakes, cookies, etc.--I have a recipe for them all. My sister and I have spent nights leaning over the kitchen counter, covered in flour, baking and personalizing recipes for the next family occasion when we were to be assigned dessert duty. In fact, one night after perfecting our signature pumpkin cookie recipe, my sister looked over at me and exclaimed, "I've got it!" Her eyes were wide. "Al & Em bakery!" Ever since that night, my sister and I have discussed and dreamed over ideas of one day opening our own bakery/cafe.

Most important meal of the day...

Don't worry, I eat food other than sweets and treats. In fact, breakfast is my favorite meal and, in my opinion, can be eaten at any time of the day. From mushroom, spinach, egg-white omelets to a mean strawberry-banana smoothie, I love cooking breakfast for my friends and family. I also like taking pictures of food...if you couldn't already tell.
