Poem 5/8/18
Ignorance
Penetrates a deep pond with a blanket soaked in scum
As he sets a paper boat afloat into the crashing waves
I have felt it before, but only as a victim
And no one can disrupt the demeaning dreams that visit him every night
In his ignorant peace
Because if someone told him the truth the world would turn upside down
So that skies would line the trees
And dogs would run from bees
And the hottest water would simultaneously freeze
And when he wakes up he takes all my reality away from me
She rides in her car down the street
So full of energy that it can only come out as evil
And she has all the power in the world and only shows it to those
Who see her riding at night
Her car leaving behind a trail of pixie dust
And in her dreams she was once a unicorn
And she knows all the truth that could break his world
And sometimes I see her car flying past me as I look out the window at night
And the glitter she interprets the tire tracks to be are perfectly symmetrical
And she reminds me of a mom that hates everything but her children
Because the world has betrayed her
And her ignorance transforms into the life only a child could interpret
