Thesis: college/university education ought to be free.
- Students loan debts are really high

- Better USA, better other countries where college education isn’t free (look at brazil- education is offered by the Ministry of Education, in Sri Lanka, offered by the government), also free for many students in France, Malta and Germany
- People who potentially could add a lot to the world because of their intelligence and ability can’t contribute to the workforce because they can’t afford college. Maybe the person who can cure cancer or Aids wouldn’t be able to be discovered because he or she wouldn’t be able to go to college.
- Ask if there are any first generation college students in the audience or any who are taking out loans, how would you feel if you were offered a free education, just in exchange for working hard?
- It is morally wrong to deny people the right to learn- it’s like denying people a right, like the right to vote. Learning shouldn’t only be able to be enjoyed by the wealthy, poor people too, this seems like a type of discrimination, and there for an effect should be taken on it, like the Civil Right Movement.
- It’s not fair that just because someone’s parents can afford to send them to school that they go, and then not take their grades seriously and pass, and be better off in life, while there are lower class people who fell a need to succeed and learn and if given the chance would do very well their grades and become the leaders of our next generations.
- Having a college education would give the benefits of adding to one’s community, where people would find their niches.
- This isn’t a new issue- people already pay for educational things through taxes, such as high school. It is proven that people that go to high school are better off financially in life, so adding to that would help people financially, along with adding a better economy.
- Twenty years ago, the state paid for 2/3 of undergraduate, in-state tuition, now the state pays for half.
- It’s a fact that if a person with a college degree works for 30 years, they will earn 1 million more than a person without a college degree.
- The ability to explain the per capita income of a state lies in the amount of college graduates of that state.
- Going to college gives a person the ability to grow mentally, to make choices and to experience what is in the real world
- College produces leaders-college graduates add to the continuous cycle of a changing society
- Life is a continuous cycle of learning and changing, and through a college education, people develop from adolescents to adults, and they take on the new world as graduates. Many times there are counselors or programs at the colleges that will help them with resumes or internships so that they are more prepared for the workforce.
- College graduates, as educated and interested in society people, will be more involved in politics and the community.
- Students also are exposed to a wide range of cultural events at college, making them a more well-rounded person, if people from all different types of cultures attend, then an array of people will be there, and racism and stereotypes will diminish.
- College is a special time in a person’s life, like a sweet sixteen or an anniversary, that everyone ought to have to cherish as memories.
- Taxpayers should pay for it like any other cause.

Thesis: College education ought to be free, because our society and economy needs to grow, students shouldn’t need to worry about money, ability ought to be considered, not money, and college gives people the opportunity to grow as people.
