Poetry

Poetry is

finding your inner rhythm

inviting beauty into form

metaphors clashing metaphors

adjectives hugging adverbs

rhyming to form a song

singing to form a rhyme

writing to find an original form

a cold winter’s night, with nothing to do-

but remember all you saw during the day

feeding your mind description

offering description to those that

crave it

birds chirping the first day of spring

the fever that burns when you find

yourself sick with the need to express yourself

the hand that is held out for you to

take when you pick up a pen and have paper in front of you

the portraits formed into words-

from the ink of your pen

a healthy dose of originality-

that is only prescribed to writers

the imprint that goes through the page-

after you’ve written something

a picture made of words

the words that form a picture

my right hand grasping a pen, my left resting on a desk

all the words possible that are said in the

time it takes for the world to revolve one time

a tattoo on the left calf of the

man sitting in front of me on the bus
